Track Nationals

PNW played an active part in entertaining the crowds at the Sylvan Adams Velodrome Bromont as well as many friends and family watching from home.
PWN Racing where well represented at Canadian Track Nationals in Bromont Quebec. The team raced hard across the weekend annimating the racing in a striong field.

Our PNW riders had a successful weekend at the Canadian Track Nationals in Bromont, Quebec! Our first-year juniors, Oscar,Monty, Oscar and Ben showed impressive growth and determination throughout the 3-day event. Each rider represented different teams, with Ben riding for Team Alberta, Oscar for Cycling BC, and Monty rocking the PNW kit.

Their individual performances were strong, with Monty shining in the Individual Pursuit, narrowly missing the podium posting a PB alongside man other riders delivering some fast times.  

Bunch racing kept the crowd on the edge of their seats, featuring over 20 riders in the field, Elimination, Points, and Scratch were fast and tactical! Strategies played out well for our PNW riders, resulting in some top-ten finishes. Exciting moments included Ben driving the front of the race early in the scratch, .Monty taking a lap in the points race and following up with an close ride in the elimination.

In the team events, the PNW riders showcased their strength and teamwork, clinching a podium finish in the Team Pursuit, riding together earning bronze alongside Max from Ignite Racing, who joined forces with them.

The weekend finished with the thrilling Madison race, where teams of 2 riders hand off from racing rider to resting rider, over an 80 laps race with sprints on every 10 laps.  Strategy and timing are paramount and with 8 Teams on the track, there’s lots going on.  Oscar and Monty rode as team PNW with some awesome exchanges and Ben and his partner Max earned a silver medal for Team Alberta, demonstrating their skill in securing points consistently throughout the race. Overall, the weekend was filled with learning opportunities and positive experiences for our riders.

Racing alongside the Canada’s top track cyclists surely provided valuable lessons and insights as they continue to pursue their goals and strive to be their best. Track racing is undoubtedly a great spectacle and an amazing forum for riders to develop tactical knowledge and bunch racing skills. Looking forward to more racing outdoors on the road as spring arrives.
